Arsenal Close To Signing Ben White

According to a report from the Guardian, Arsenal are close to signing Ben White who is currently on the books of Brighton & Hove Albion.

It has been reported that the Gunners had made a £40 million bid for the 23-year-old but the Seagulls rejected that offer as they wanted £50m for letting their star player leave the Falmer Stadium.

However, the London side have now made an initial £45m bid plus £5m in add-ons, and they are confident that they can secure a deal for the talented centre-back.

White, who signed a new four-year contract with the Albion in September last year, is said to have agreed personal terms with the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side finished eighth in the Premier League table last season and once again missed out on European football.

The Spanish boss wants to sign a replacement for David Luiz and considers the England international as a perfect candidate.

The young defender enjoyed an impressive 2020-21 season with the Seagulls. He made 36 Premier League appearances and helped his side to stay in the top-flight.

Ben is an academy product of Brighton who, following an impressive loan spell at Leeds United, managed to establish a place in Graham Potter’s first team last season. So far, he has clocked up 41 appearances across all competitions for the English side. Best of luck Ben White.
