Both sides failed to score in the first-half before Brahim Diaz broke the deadlock on 51 minutes with a sensational goal.
The 24-year-old then turned provider as he send in a low cross for Jude Bellingham to tap home Real’s second.
Joselu also earned his name on the scoresheet in the stoppage-time as Real Madrid sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Barcelona had to win to keep their slim title hopes alive and they looked in control in the Estadi Montilivi game after leading 2-1 at half-time.
Artem Dovbyk quickly levelled the scores after Andreas Christensen’s opening goal within the first three minutes of the match. But Robert Lewandowski fired another to restore Barca’s lead.
However, Girona made a stunning second-half comeback as Portu bagged a brace and Miguel Gutiérrez also struck to seal an impressive 4-2 success.
The Catalans’ defeat ensured Real Madrid will finish at the top of the La Liga table this campaign.
The Madrid giants have lost just one league this season and could finish with an incredible 99 points.
It is Carlo Ancelotti’s second La Liga title since returning to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2021.
