According to The Sun, Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Nathan Ake who is currently on the books of Manchester City.
Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side finished second in the Premier League table last season, securing 74 points from 38 matches. However, they were still 12 points behind Pep Guardiola’s side who claimed their third league title in four years.
United, who also lost the Europa League final against Villarreal in May, will be looking to do better this campaign. The Red Devils are interested to bolster their defensive ranks in the summer and are currently keeping a close eye on City’s 26-year-old defender.
Ake is an academy graduate of Chelsea where he progressed through its youth ranks to earn 17 senior appearances, with two assists to his name.
The centre-back spent loan spells at several clubs, including Reading, Watford, and Bournemouth.
Following a loan spell at Dean Court, the 26-year-old joined the Cherries permanently in the summer of 2017 in a deal worth £20 million. He clocked up 121 appearances across all competitions for Bournemouth, scoring 11 goals and creating six assists in the process (stats from Transfermarkt).
City splashed £41m in August 2020 to bring him to the Etihad Stadium. So far, he has made 13 total appearances for the Citizens, with a goal to his name.
Good Luck Nathan Ake.
