Maxwel Cornet on the Radar of Leeds United

Maxwel Cornet

Leeds United are reportedly interested to sign Maxwel Cornet who is currently on the books of Ligue 1 side Lyon.

According to a report from The Sun, the Whites are keen to secure the services of the 24-year-old but are unwilling to meet Les Gones’ £20 million transfer fee.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side enjoyed a very good Premier League season after securing promotion to the top-flight last year. They finished ninth in the table, securing 59 points from 38 matches.

The West Yorkshire outfit now want to strengthen their ranks in the summer ahead of the next season, and they have identified Cornet as a good fit for their needs.

However, the Ligue 1 side are demanding a £20 million transfer fee which the Whites are not willing to pay.

Maxwel is an academy product of French side Metz where he progressed through its youth ranks to make 25 appearances across all competitions for the senior side, with a goal to his name.

The 24-year-old signed for Lyon in January 2015 and earned his league debut for the club that same month. So far, he has clocked up 251 appearances across all competitions for Les Gones, scoring 51 goals and creating 29 assists in the process (stats from Transfermarkt).

Best of luck Maxwel Cornet.
