According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is still in negotiations with Memphis Depay over a deal to bring him to Camp Nou on a free transfer.

The forward’s current contract with French side Lyon is set to expire this month and then he will become a free agent.

The Catalans are interested in securing his services and are currently said to be in discussions with the Dutch footballer over a deal.

The 27-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2020-21 season with Les Gones. He clocked up 37 Ligue 1 appearances, notching 20 goals and creating 12 assists in the process (stats from Transfermarkt).

However, the French club still failed to secure Champions League football for next season as they finished third in the table following a defeat on the final matchday.

Depay started his professional career with PSV Eindhoven where he made 124 appearances across all competitions for the Eredivisie side, with 50 goals and 29 assists to his name.

He joined Manchester United in the summer of 2015 in a deal worth £25 million but he endured a disappointing spell at Old Trafford and joined Lyon in January 2017.

Since arriving at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, the 27-year-old has racked up 178 appearances across all competitions, scoring 76 goals and creating 55 assists in the process. Best regards Memphis Depay.
