According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool is interested in signing Saul Niguez who is currently on the books of Atletico Madrid.
It has been reported that the Reds have joined the race for the signature of the 26-year-old who has also sparked interest from Manchester United.
Saul started his youth career at Real Madrid before joining cross-city rivals Atletico in 2008. He progressed through his youth ranks and earned his debut for the senior side in a Europa League match against Besiktas JK in March 2012. He has been an integral part of the Indians’ squad since 2014, following his loan spell at the Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.
Since he arrived in Madrid, the talented midfielder has clocked up 337 appearances across all competitions, scoring 43 goals and creating 19 assists in the process (stats from Transfermarkt). He has also the distinction of making 19 appearances for the Spanish national team, with three goals to his name.
However, the previous season saw reduced game-time for the 26-year-old at the Wanda Metropolitano. Argentine boss Diego Simeone started him only 22 times in the campaign that witnessed Los Rojiblancos winning the La Liga title.
Saul Niguez is a highly talented player who could be a good addition for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but the Reds face competition for the signature of the Spanish footballer. Not only United are interested to secure his signature but Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also said to be keen on him.
