Manchester City Eyeing a Move for Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish, Fernandinho

According to a report from ESPN, Manchester City want to sign Jack Grealish who is currently on the books of Aston Villa.

It has been reported that City manager Pep Guardiola has been a long admirer of the 25-year-old.

The Citizens landed the Premier League crown, securing 86 points at the end of the season and finishing 12 points ahead of second-placed Manchester United.

They also had a great opportunity to claim the Champions League trophy after they easily outclassed Paris Saint Germain in the semi-final to book a place in the final with Chelsea.

However, the Manchester side lost the important encounter at Estadio do Dragao after Kai Havertz popped up with a goal in the first half.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now interested to strengthen their ranks ahead of next season. Their veteran striker Sergio Aguero has joined Barcelona and so the Spanish boss want to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to replace the Argentina international.

It is said that Guardiola is also interested to bring Jack Grealish to the Etihad Stadium this summer and considers him as important a target as the English footballer Kane.

Grealish, who is valued at £100 million by the Lions, has also been linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window, but it is said that the Citizens are confident they can win the race for the winger.

The talented attacking midfielder signed a new long term contract with his club in September 2020 that will expire in 2025.

The 25-year-old missed several matches this season, but he was still impressive for Dean Smith’s side. He clocked up 26 league appearances for Villa, scoring six goals and creating 12 assists in the process.

Jack is an academy graduate of Aston Villa who progressed through its youth ranks to earn his professional debut in May 2014 against Manchester City in the Premier League.

He has so far clocked up 213 appearances across all competitions for the Lions, scoring 32 goals and creating 43 assists in the process (stats from Transfermarkt).
