According to Sky Sports, Leicester City are close to striking a deal with Ligue 1 side Lille for signing Boubakary Soumare.

It has been reported that the two sides could come to an agreement for a transfer fee which could rise to £18 million.

Brendan Rodgers’ side came close to qualifying for Champions League football next season only to miss out in the end. They will now be looking to bolster their squad to get a better result next year.

It is said that the 22-year-old has long been a target for the Foxes who are now close to securing the player’s signature.

The French footballer has been impressive this season for Les Dogues who landed the Ligue 1 title. He racked up 32 league appearances this campaign, with an assist to his name.

Soumare started his career by joining Paris FC before leaving for Paris Saint-Germain in 2011. He earned eight appearances for the B team of the French giants and went on to sign for Lille in the summer of 2017.

The talented midfielder made his professional debut against Metz in November 2017, and since then, he has clocked up 112 appearances across all competitions, with a goal and three assists to his name (stats from Transfermarkt).

Best of luck Boubakary Soumare.
