According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting to make a move for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher in the summer transfer window.
The Lilywhites were the busiest club in the Premier League in January as they brought in Radu Dragusin for £26.7 million from Genoa and also signed RB Leizpig’s Timo Werner on loan.
But they are also planning for the summer already, as they want to sign Gallagher.
It was suggested that Tottenham could make a late move for the 24-year-old in January but the player ended up staying at Stamford Bridge.
Gallagher has been a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s team this season. He has made 32 appearances in all competitions this term, contributing three goals and six assists.
Pochettino didn’t want to weaken his squad by parting with such an important player in the middle of the season. But the Argentine boss could sanction a move for the player, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2025, in the summer.
Gallagher is one of the best players to have emerged from the club’s academy. The talented player has so far made over 70 senior appearances, with six goals and seven assists to his name.
He mainly plays in central midfield but can also used as a defensive and attacking midfielder.
Due to the financial fair play restrictions, Chelsea couldn’t make any additions to the squad in the winter transfer window.
Since selling a homegrown talent represents pure accounting profit, the Blues may be tempted to let the midfielder go at the end of the campaign.
The West Londoners have been in the market for a new striker as they have been struggling to score goals. They need reinforcements in other areas as well.
