Leon Bailey is set to pen a new contract with Aston Villa, according to reports.
The 26-year-old joined the Midlands side in the summer of 2021 from Bayer Leverkusen.
He struggled with injuries in his debut campaign, with his involvement limited to only seven Premier League starts.
However, the Jamaican was impressive in the 2022-23 season, scoring five goals and contributing four assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
Bailey has also been an important member of Unai Emery’s side this campaign, as he has started 10 matches in the English top-flight and netted seven goals.
He has a contract until 2025 but Aston Villa are preparing to hand him a new long-term deal.
According to The Athletic, discussions have been planned over a new deal since December, with the 26-year-old happy to extend his stay at the club.
Bailey began his senior football career with Belgian side Genk before joining Leverkusen in 2017.
He established himself as a key member of the first-team, racking up 156 games and scoring 39 goals.
Aston Villa have defied expectations this season as they have emerged as a genuine contender for a top-four finish.
Unai Emery’s side are currently ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea, having secured 46 points from 23 matches.
Their most recent Premier League clash saw them thrashing Sheffield United 5-0 at Bramall Lane, with five of their players earning their names on the scoresheet.
