Manchester United star Anthony Martial out for ten weeks after groin surgery

In another injury blow for Manchester United, Anthony Martial has been ruled out for ten weeks after undergoing surgery.

The 28-year-old joined United in the summer of 2015 from Monaco in a deal worth £36 million.  However, he has failed to meet expectations at the Theatre of Dreams, scoring 90 goals in over 300 senior appearances.

The experienced forward has shown glimpses of his quality but he is rarely available due to injury issues.

This season, he has started only five Premier League matches, with just a goal and an assist to his name.

And now Martial is set to be out until the start of April, meaning the Red Devils will be short of firepower during the second-half of the season.

According to the Daily Mail, the English giants are unlikely to sign a replacement for the Frenchman before the January transfer window closes.

With Martial’s contract expiring in June, it looks unlikely that he will play again for United before leaving Old Trafford as a free agent.

Erik ten Hag’s side are struggling to perform this season as they are languishing in 10th position in the league standings.

They must significantly improve their performances to get back in contention for the Champions League places.

Ten Hag made an impressive start in his debut campaign, leading them to the Carabao Cup trophy and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

However, results have been very poor this season as they find themselves 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

The Dutch boss must inspire a massive comeback in the coming weeks, otherwise we don’t see him staying long in his current role.
