Bayern Munich end pursuit for Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier

Talking Points From The English Premier League Title Race, Nahitan Nandez, Nahitan Nandez

Bayern Munich have ended their pursuit for Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier, according to reports.

The Bavarians have been looking to sign a new full-back in the January transfer window and have identified the 33-year-old as a good fit to their needs.

However, they have submitted three bids for the England international but they have all been rejected by the Premier League outfit, including their latest €15 million offer.

Newcastle have been adamant that they are not interested in selling Trippier in this transfer window. And now as per the ESPN, Bayern have ended their pursuit for the former Atletico Madrid star.

The right-back has been a key member of Eddie Howe’s side this season, contributing eight assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.

He also played an instrumental role in helping the Magpies secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League last term.

However, Newcastle United have been far from convincing with their performances this campaign as they are languishing in 10th in the English league, with an incredible 14 points behind the top-four.

Injuries have been one of their biggest issues but still they should have been doing much better than this.

The Tyneside club were expected to bring in reinforcements in January but they have been very quiet so far due to the Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Reports suggested that they will have to sell first before being able to bring in new recruits.

Therefore, it looked they would cash in on Trippier who has a contract at St James’ Park until 2025. However, it looks they are not ready to sell the 33-year-old in January.
